Within the European pavilion, Erasmus+ programme countries showcased their higher education systems and mobility opportunities, highlighting the diversity, quality and strengths of European education. The joint presence reinforced Europe’s visibility in the Asia-Pacific region and demonstrated the value of coordinated international promotion.
As part of the APAIE programme, HARNO and DZS organised a networking reception in cooperation with the EU Representation in Hong Kong and Macau. The event brought together international partners, universities and policymakers to deepen academic collaboration with stakeholders across the Asia-Pacific region.
The reception was opened by the Ambassador of the European Union to Hong Kong and Macau, Mr Harvey Rouse, who thanked the “Study in Europe” consortium as well as the Estonian and Czech agencies for jointly managing the Study in Europe booth and contributing to the strengthening of Europe’s global academic partnerships. He emphasised the importance of presenting Europe as a global hub for education and innovation and of fostering closer cooperation with partners in the region.
“Thank you for showcasing the EU as the global education and innovation hub it is, for fostering international collaboration and for strengthening academic links with Hong Kong,” the Ambassador noted in his address.
According to Eero Loonurm from HARNO, a coordinated European approach is essential in international promotion. “The European Union’s goal is to present European countries together and strongly. Together we are more visible and have greater impact,” he said.
The Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference and Exhibition is one of the world’s most significant international education events, bringing together thousands of higher education professionals and policymakers each year. From the HARNO side, the activities at APAIE were carried out by Silva Viilup, Sabina Maidla, Piret Puuorg and Eero Loonurm.
The “Study in Europe” service contract strengthens the global visibility and attractiveness of European higher education, particularly in priority regions outside Europe. The initiative promotes Europe as a top study destination through coordinated marketing and communication activities, targeted events and cooperation seminars, as well as capacity-building and training opportunities for national agencies.
The partners of the “Study in Europe” consortium include Campus France (France), NUFFIC (Netherlands), the Estonian Education and Youth Board (Estonia), DAAD (Germany), DZS (Czech Republic), and the Academic Cooperation Association.
