Ustus Agur Scholarship for Doctoral Students

ITL’s Ustus Agur Scholarship supports the research of a doctoral student whose work is related to information and communication technology (ICT) or involves applying ICT in another field. The scholarship honors Ustus Agur’s outstanding contribution to the development of Estonian society.

The scholarship amount is EUR 5,000. Applicant must be a doctoral student enrolled at an Estonian university. 

The rules of the scholarship are set out in the Ustus Agur Scholarship Statute. Selection is based on the thesis topic, its expected impact on Estonian society, and the candidate’s professional record. 

Application deadline is 16 November 2025. 

To apply, please complete the online application form and submit the following: 

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a list of publications, a brief description of your current professional activities, and other relevant information regarding your doctoral studies. 

  • Brief description of your doctoral research (max. 1,500 characters). 

  • Essay “The Future of Estonian Society and the Contribution of My Doctoral Thesis” (max. 4,000 characters). 

The scholarship decision will be made no later than 24 November 2025, and the scholarship will be granted on 27 November 2025. 

The 2024 scholarship was granted to Elli Valla, a doctoral student at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech).
