Final examinations for basic school

The final examinations for basic school are the same in all schools in the spring, and national examinations for 9th-grade students take place at the same time. The purpose of the final examinations of basic school is to assess the knowledge and competencies acquired by students in basic school and to make a decision on graduation.
To graduate from basic school, 9th-grade students must take an exam in Estonian, mathematics, and an elective.

  • Estonian (written) - May 30, 2022
  • Estonian as a second language combined with the B1-level exam (written) - May 31, 2022
  • Estonian as a second language combined with the B1-level exam (oral) - May 31-June 2, 2022
  • Mathematics (written) - June 6, 2022
  • Elective exams in Russian, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, history, social studies or in English, French, German, or Russian as a foreign language (written) - June 14, 2022
  • Elective exams in English, French, German, or Russian as a foreign language (oral) -June 14–15, 2022
  • Elective exam in English (oral) - June 16, 2022
